Trent McDuffie’s journey with the Kansas City Chiefs ended last week with his trade to the LA Rams. McDuffie parted ways with the Chiefs after four years and with dozens of happy memories, including one with tight end Travis Kelce’s fiancée, Taylor Swift.
Steve Mason and John Ireland interviewed the new Rams’ cornerback for ESPN LA on Thursday. During a segment of his chat, McDuffie recalled his first meeting with the “Blank Space” singer and admitted that he was caught off guard by her.
The 2023 first-team All-Pro was impressed with how Swift remembered the smallest of details about him and said:
“She is a very special woman, down to earth, genuine, and I remember when I first met her, it was a little bit of nerves, but she gave me a big hug, knew my name, knew my position, knew football, and I was like, ‘Wow, this is surreal.’

“This is the moment that I’ll remember forever: meeting Taylor Swift and being able to have a normal conversation. It was really cool. So, a lot of respect to Taylor Swift, and shout to Travis too.”
After spending four seasons with the Chiefs, McDuffie will be demonstrating his skills with the Rams. On Wednesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed the cornerback’s trade news. Within a week of the trade, McDuffie and the Rams agreed upon a contract extension.
According to ESPN, McDuffie signed a deal worth $124 million with Los Angeles, which came with a whopping $100 million guaranteed. In addition, his average annual salary has been set at $31 million, with his base salary for this year expected to be $13.63 million.
Trent McDuffie’s girlfriend Gabby Esposito pens emotional farewell to Chiefs after Rams move
Following Trent McDuffie’s trade to the Rams, his girlfriend, Gabby Esposito, shared an Instagram post featuring pictures of her memories with the Chiefs family over the years. In addition to the photos, Esposito jotted down an emotional message in the caption, expressing her emotion about leaving the Chiefs for the Rams.
“First and foremost,” she wrote. “I will forever be in debt to the whole Chiefs organization for trading up for Trent in the draft, bringing him to Kansas City on the lucky chance of meeting the love of my life.
“There was something truly so special about watching the person I love live out his dreams in the city I call home + that is a feeling I’ll carry with me forever.”
Esposito’s note turned Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, emotional, who later dropped a five-word message bidding goodbye to her and McDuffie. Three days later, Chiefs heiress Gracie Hunt also shared her reaction to the cornerback’s trade to the Rams.
