Tyreek Hill is already hinting at a new chapter in his career.

On Thursday, the Miami Dolphins announced that they had fired head coach Mike McDaniel after four seasons. Addressing the change, owner Stephen Ross said in a statement:

“After careful evaluation and extensive discussions since the season ended, I have made the decision that our organization is in need of comprehensive change.

“I love Mike and want to thank him for his hard work, commitment, and the energy he brought to our organization. Mike is an incredibly creative football mind whose passion for the game and his players was evident every day. I wish him and his family the best moving forward.”

In the wake of that news, the wideout known as “Cheetah”, who had arrived alongside him in 2022 via trade from the Kansas City Chiefs, reposted this GIF of Kevin Hart saying “Damn”:

In McDaniel and Hill’s first two years together, the Dolphins made the playoffs, losing in the Wild Card each time. They even controlled the AFC East for the majority of 2023, only to collapse late in the season and cede the division to the Buffalo Bills.

In 2024, however, they regressed badly, posting a losing record and missing the playoffs for the first time in McDaniel’s tenure. 2025 saw even more disaster, as Hill tore his ACL during a win against the New York Jets, and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was benched twice, the second time indefinitely for newcomer Quinn Ewers.

With McDaniel gone, Hill now faces an uncertain future. In early October, CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones reported that the Dolphins were considering releasing the multiple-time All-Pro and Pro Bowler in the offseason.

Tyreek Hill dismisses idea of Mike McDaniel joining Chiefs

Back in Tyreek Hill’s old haunts in western Missouri, the Chiefs, coming off their first losing record and postseason absence in the Patrick Mahomes era, are facing the prospect of losing offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, who has received interview requests from at least four different teams.

In the wake of that development, Fox Sports Radio host Mark Gunnels suggested Mike McDaniel as a replacement. However, Hill disagreed with it:

“Mike don’t fit yall scheme buddy sorry to tell ya”

The team has already made a coaching change for the offseason: firing wide receivers coach Connor Embree after seven seasons and three titles in five Super Bowl appearances.
