The PGA Tour vs LIV Golf debacle has been going on since the new league started in the summer of 2022.

The two sides have yet to reach an agreement over the future of professional golf, including the Ryder Cup.

LIV golfers are currently allowed to play in the competition, but that may not always remain the case.

As it stands, it is also more difficult for them to make Ryder Cup teams because they only score qualification points from the major championships.

Tyrrell Hatton was aware of these issues when he made the switch from the PGA Tour and was even scared of something.

Tyrrell Hatton was scared about missing the Ryder Cup after his LIV Golf move

Hatton joined LIV Golf in January 2024, four months after helping Europe win the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome.

He has now admitted in his press conference before the 2025 Ryder Cup that he was scared about having less chance of making the European team.

“Yeah, it was definitely one of the scary parts of the decision,” Hatton said. “I knew that my opportunities to make the team would be limited. And yeah, that’s a scary thing.

“I definitely feel like the events that I played outside of LIV, I had the extra motivation to play well. It’s not like I tried any harder. I try my best no matter what. But certainly knowing that the majors had an extra importance to them for me, maybe helped me.
