Against the Bills, the Eagles took an early 13-0 lead in the first half. Quarterback Jalen Hurts made a passing touchdown to TE Dallas Goedert in the first quarter. Placekicker Jake Elliott followed up by converting two field goals before halftime.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Bills finally found some offensive momentum in the fourth quarter. Josh Allen scored two rushing touchdowns to minimize the deficit to just one point. However, it was not enough to secure the win.
This loss brought an end to the Bills’ four-game winning streak. They are in second place in the AFC East with an 11-5 record. Josh Allen completed 23 of 35 passes for 262 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
On the other hand, Nick Sirianni and the Eagles already won the NFC East title following their victory over the Washington Commanders in Week 16. Against the Bills, Jalen Hurts completed 13 of 27 passes for 110 yards and one touchdown.
Nick Sirianni gets real about their road victory over the Bills in Week 17
In the postgame press conference, Nick Sirianni did not hesitate in expressing his excitement about winning at Highmark Stadium.
He said that while they still had room for improvement, the team will first focus on enjoying this hard-fought victory.
“You got to give yourself points when you win football games,” Sirianni said. “There’s always things to clean up when you come out of a football game. But, if you come out of a football game where you win on the road in a hostile environment, they got really good fans, against a really good football team that’s had the sustained success that we had, like if you come out of this and you’re just thinking about all the negative things that happened, that makes for a miserable existence.
“We’ll get there. We’ll get to what we need to clean up. … Winning his hard in this league and I”m always gonna enjoy a win. And then I’m gonna be really hypercritical on myself, first and foremost, and then the rest of the guys after that and the coaches. So yeah, you feel great.”
The Eagles face the Commanders on Sunday, Jan. 4, before moving on to their postseason preparations.
