Julia Roberts opened up about her favorite NFL team at the Golden Globes. The Hollywood legend walked the red carpet of the awards show in Los Angeles on Sunday, the same day the San Francisco 49ers played in their wild-card playoff round against the Philadelphia Eagles.
She joined “Access Hollywood” hosts Mario Lopez and Kit Hoover for an interview and opened up about her favorite team. She watched the game on television during the interview.
The hosts asked her about her “favorite” team, to which Roberts said the “49ers,” who have a team value of $8.6 billion, according to Forbes.

Snoop Dogg crashed the interview, and Julia Roberts greeted him while talking about her favorite NFL team. She said hello to him and then talked about the Niners tight end George Kittle’s unfortunate injury.
“I’m very upset about the 49ers right now, George Kittle tore his Achilles, it’s very upsetting,” Roberts said (1:58).
George Kittle tore his Achilles tendon in the game against the Eagles on Sunday and was placed on injured reserve. But despite the hiccup, the Niners won over the Eagles 23-19 and secured their spot in the divisional round, where they are gearing up to play against the Seattle Seahawks.
Julia Roberts opens up about “kinship” with Patrick Mahomes
Julia Roberts is an avid football fan, and back in 2023, in an interview with SiriusXM, she opened up about the Netflix series, “Quarterback.” She also talked about the “kinship” she shares with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
“I’m watching a lot of documentary things,” she said, “I mean, I love documentaries, but I watched this documentary series ‘Quarterback.’ It has changed my life, I think, because I’m a big football fan, but this has given me an insight, like, I have so much respect right now for Patrick Mahomes. I don’t know what to do with it. There’s really not a place for me to put it on a daily basis.”
“…That’s wrong. And I felt a kinship because I feel like my homework when I’m working, it never ends. There is always some other element, some other thing to learn, to figure out, to get ready for, whatever it is and so, I kind of felt like, ‘I understand you, Patrick Mahomes,'” she added.
Roberts said in the interview that her favorite team is the San Francisco 49ers, with the Chiefs “right behind” on her list.
Julia Roberts lived in San Francisco back in 2020. She moved to live in the Presidio Heights with her husband, Daniel Moder, and their three children. However, they sold that house in 2023 and relocated to Pacific Heights.
