WWE has a Major WrestleMania PROBLEM

The Dallas Cowboys have not finalized a decision regarding wide receiver George Pickens. After multiple reports over the past few weeks, Jerry Jones’ team plans place the non-exclusive franchise tag on the wide receiver on Friday.

On the “The Rich Eisen” show, Cowboys CEO and Executive Vice President Stephen Jones discussed their plans with Pickens.

“We’re not putting any time frame on this,” Jones said. “I mean, the most important thing is live in the present. We think we just love that George is going to be back. Jerry (Jones) had a great visit with him yesterday. He was fired up that he wouldn’t be going anywhere.

“We all understand that, economically, guys probably would prefer a long term deal. But the franchise tag, economically, is not a bad either. But he was very fired up about his future with us. We felt like he wanted to be in Dallas. He certainly said that to Jerry yesterday.”

The Pittsburgh Steelers traded Pickens to the Cowboys in May. Last season, he had put up an impressive performance on the field. The wide receiver recorded 1,429 yards on 93 receptions and nine touchdowns, while the team finished second in the NFC East with a 7-9-1 record and no playoff appearance.

Owner Jerry Jones talked about their decision regarding Pickens’ future with the team.

“Very clearly the Cowboys want George Pickens to be a part of our future,” Jones said as per ESPN. “That’s very clearly. That says that so clearly. And it has a lot of muscle behind it when it says it. So, I’m clear with that. I was rewarded that he expressed himself in the way he did about how comfortable he was there, how much he liked working with Dak (Prescott) and his teammates and he was looking forward to his future with the Cowboys.”

Stephen A. Smith had expressed his skepticism about the Cowboys franchise tagging George Pickens

Before the Cowboys placed the nonexclusive franchise tag on George Pickens on Friday, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith had his doubts about this decision.

During Tuesday’s episode of “First Take,” he shared his thoughts on the situation.

“Having Pickens under the franchise tag, I don’t know how good that is for the Cowboys,” Smith said. “If he’s worried about his long-term future, he’s going to go out and make what we call business decisions. Sometimes, you might not go all out because you’re trying to preserve your health and make sure you’re in position for that long-term deal.

“I don’t like it. I don’t like the fact that they’re in a similar position to do this to George Pickens. Keep him long-term or let him go.”

Pickens will be earning a $28 million salary under the franchise tag during the 2026 season.
