Where Tiger Woods now sits in the official world golf rankings as he hits a new career low

There are few sadder sights in sport than seeing an all-time great hit new lows as Father Time catches up with them but when it comes to Tiger Woods, that is exactly what we are witnessing.

Woods hasn’t been seen since suffering an achilles injury earlier in 2025 as he was just getting into the swing of things in the TGL.

Woods has now undergone more back surgery as well, casting further doubt over his future in the sport.

Of course, everyone in golf would love to see Tiger return at some point but it has to be when he is fit, able, and ready to compete. The last few times we’ve seen Woods, he’s been a shadow of the great player he once was.

Indeed, a quick glance at the world rankings right now shows how far Woods has fallen, with the former world number one now hitting a new low.

Tiger Woods’ current world ranking

We all know that Woods was going to tumble down the OWGR as time went on. He plays very little for a start and without those events, he’s not going to register points.

However, in what feels like a poignant moment in his career, Woods has now dropped outside of the world’s top 2000 golfers for the first time.

Woods now sits in a shockingly bad 2084th in the world and while we all know the reasons, it’s still not a pretty sight.

With Woods having spent a whopping 683 weeks as world number one over his career, to see him now so low is bordering on heart-breaking.

Still, we all live in hope he will make a comeback again and maybe, just maybe, he has one more win in him somewhere down the line.

Tiger Woods not alone in being a major winner dropping down the rankings

As we know the introduction of LIV Golf and their lack of OWGR points means that they have golfers who are dropping down the list quickly.

Phil Mickelson is an obvious name in there. He now sits 1073rd in the world and is a six-time major winner, while Dustin Johnson is also way down there in 645th.

With Woods showing no sign of returning to a golf course any time soon, things could yet get worse for the 15-time major winner before they get better.

Hopefully, this is as bad as it gets for him and over the next year, he can return from surgery and look to put this latest setback behind him.
