Bryson DeChambeau had an equipment change at LIV Golf Singapore after a surprise split from LA Golf. While the star golfer is still using their shafts, he has moved to different wedges.

DeChambeau is in Singapore this week for LIV Golf Singapore, which teed off on Thursday, March 13, at Sentosa Golf Club’s Serapong Course. He fired a 4-under 67 in the opening round for a solid start, but with Bettinardi’s HLX 5.0 Forged wedges, and not the 50-degree Ping S159 and 56-degree Ping Glide 4.0 wedges.

During his post-round interview, DeChambeau reflected on his equipment switch.

“I didn’t really get to test it that well this week,” he said. ” But on 11, I hit it in the rough and I caught a jumper out of the left-hand rough. So I didn’t really get to test the wedges, but they feel good. In practice they’ve felt great. It’s going through the turf a lot better from the fairway.”

“I am trusting of that, and hopefully that new bounce that I’m using is going to be a benefit to me in softer conditions because that’s really what I’m struggling with. The same thing with my irons, too. I don’t think I have enough bounce on my irons, and it’s going through the turf differently which is making it spin differently and go different distances. That’s potentially what it is,” he added.

Bryson DeChambeau takes the lead at the LIV Golf Singapore

Bryson DeChambeau fired a 6-under 65 in the second round of LIV Golf Singapore to take the 36-hole lead. Following the second round, he aggregated at 10-under and held a solid three-stroke lead over the field.

Thomas Detry continued his good form from last week and was tied for second after rounds of 68 and 67. Louis Oosthuizen also posted an identical score to sit three strokes back, along with Jon Rahm, Lee Westwood, and Richard T. Lee.
