Former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson revealed the name of one team he would like to play for.
During an interview with Cleveland.com on Sunday, the quarterback talked about his family’s relationship with Cleveland Browns coach Todd Monken. Simpson then said that he would be honored to play for the AFC North team, who are worth $6.4 billion (as per Forbes).
“My dad and coach Monken go way back,” Simpson said. “They talk often. He texted him when he got the job and they’ve texted a little bit (since), so if I had the opportunity to play for the Browns, it would be a dream come true.
“I think I’d be in great hands with the team that they have and the organization, and then coach Monken, what he does with the quarterbacks and the offense is super quarterback-friendly and I think he’s going to coach me hard if I’m able to go there and I know he’s going to do it the right way. So, I’m super excited.”

Last year, the Browns already drafted two quarterbacks, Dillon Gabriel and Ty Simpson. After a disappointing 5-12 campaign, they fired coach Kevin Stefanski. Todd Monken was brought in as his replacement from the Baltimore Ravens.
The Browns have two first-round picks in this year’s draft. Simpson is considered the second-best quarterback prospect behind 2025 Heisman winner, Fernando Mendoza. However, it is still unclear whether Todd Monken and his team will bring in another signal caller with one of their first-round picks.

Ty Simpson shares his thoughts about playing for the New York Jets
One of the teams linked with Ty Simpson is the struggling New York Jets. They hold the second overall pick after finishing the 2025 season fourth in the AFC East with a 3-14 record.
At the NFL Scouting Combine on Friday, the former Alabama quarterback shared his thoughts on playing for Aaron Glenn’s team. Simpson got to meet with the Jets in Indianapolis.
“It was great,” Simpson said. “Just talking ball, getting to know each other. Coach Reich is a great, great human being. Coach Glenn is a super juiceful guy. Installing some stuff (plays) and getting to know each other and getting on the (white) board is what I like. I really love the Jets.
“If I have the opportunity to play for New York, they’re going to get the best Ty Simpson they can get.”
Simpson spent his entire four-season collegiate stint in Tuscaloosa. He served as a backup for the first three years before being named the starter last season. The quarterback recorded a total of 3,948 yards and 28 TDs passing.
