“Zero doubt he said this”: Jerry Jones’ outlandish Micah Parsons – Quinnen Williams trade to Jets claim disputed by insider

On Friday, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made a claim that drew significant attention in the NFL world. In his appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Jones claimed he offered the New York Jets a trade deal involving Micah Parsons for Quinnen Williams, which was outrageous.

“I tried to get the Jets in training camp,” Jones said. “I wanted a (first-round pick) and Parsons for Williams. That’s how much I thought of Williams.”

Many NFL fans couldn’t fathom how such a wild deal claimed by Jones was possible. Parsons, who was drafted by the Cowboys in the first round in 2021, was eventually traded to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks.

New York Jets insider Connor Hughes immediately refuted the trade claim made by Jerry Jones on Friday. While he confirmed there was contact between both teams during Micah Parsons’ contract holdout, nothing really materialized to the extent of making and rejecting offers.

“Zero doubt that Jerry said this,” Hughes wrote on X. “However, this was never actually offered to the Jets, I’m told. There was a conversation between owners. It was a brief one.

“A Cowboys source told me the Jets weren’t ever going to the monetary value needed to extend Parsons (discussed this Week 2). Talks ended. A land where Jerry trades Micah AND a 1 for Quinnen is amazing tho.”

Jerry Jones continues to justify the Micah Parsons trade

Trading out Micah Parsons after a contract holdout was a shocking decision to the NFL, but Jerry Jones has had no problem with it since it was concluded. The Cowboys’ owner once again attempted to justify his decision on Friday, citing how difficult it was to win with the linebacker.

“Micah is very impactful, but we really hadn’t won with Micah,” Jones said. “Not because of Micah. We just hadn’t won because (the opponent) was able to work around us having Micah.”

“They ran right at him or they basically threw the ball quicker. Those are simplistic things. And there was no question that if we could replace him with four or five top players, (George) Pickens-type players … that was all in the thinking with Micah Parsons.”

Parsons established himself as one of the best defensive players in the NFL in his four seasons with the Cowboys. Nonetheless, Jerry Jones wasn’t willing to offer him the contract terms his party wanted, leading to a fallout. The Cowboys’ defense has been one of the poorest in the NFL in 2025.
